Kezia McLean – Illustrator

Clean, minimal and design for a Berlin-based artist illustrator who wanted a professional looking website of her own where she could showcase her art, include a more detailed bio, provide contact information and links to her various social media accounts etc.

The Client

In full disclosure, I probably should confess that the client in this case was my very own Berlin-based illustrator-artist daughter so I didn’t have to fight too hard to get the contract!

The Brief

Kezia had already started to promote her own work on Instagram (see https://www.instagram.com/keziam/) but also wanted a professional looking website of her own where she could showcase her art, include a more detailed bio, provide contact information and links to her various social media accounts etc.

The Design

As an artist with a keen eye for design herself, Kezia had a clear idea of how she wanted the site to look – keeping it clean and uncluttered to put the focus on her, mostly monochrome artwork.  We worked together to create a design she liked and decide to opt for a slightly unusual vertical style menu which is still responsive and works well on smaller/mobile screens too.

It was also important that Kezia could easily upload new images and update the site herself, and with a few hours’ WordPress tuition at home in Brighton, she soon got the hang of things, albeit support is always on hand if/when she needs it – a service which I offer all my clients, not just those who happen to be family members!
