Whilst my website design services will help to ensure you have a website that looks good, it’s equally important that your site runs fast and efficiently. And whilst you may not be particularly interested in the nuts and bolts of what’s behind the design, that’s where I’ll be tinkering to make sure your visitors enjoy using your site as much as they enjoy looking at it.
As an experienced IT developer, there are a number of different tools I can use to code the back-end of your site, but with its user-friendly front-end (making it easier for you to edit and update things yourself once the site is up and running), WordPress is unquestionably one of the most useful.
So what is WordPress?
In a nutshell, it’s the software (or app) that sits behind your website which allows you to add or edit what information actually appears on your site.
In techie terms, WordPress is a sophisticated Content Management System (CMS) and blogging platform, used to create more websites than any other CMS in the world. Its strength comes from the thousands of contributors to the WordPress community, publishing and updating thousands of plugins and themes daily.
As a professional WordPress developer, I can use it to power everything from tiny personal blogs to multi-national corporate sites for my clients. I’ve been developing in WordPress for over 10 years now and can use my WordPress expertise to advise you on solutions and/or help with implementation of features and functionality for your new or existing WordPress websites.
I can –
- Set up your new WordPress site including hosting and linking it to your domain name and implementing your chosen theme
- Advise you on your existing WordPress website – is it properly set up, optimised for SEO and/or running out of date or insecure plug-ins?
- Create bespoke themes, customise or update existing ones
- Rescue hacked or broken WordPress websites
- Move your site from Joomla, Drupa, Blogger etc to WordPress
- Offer hands-on or online tuition if you’d like to gain a better understanding of WordPress and its capabilities
Need a little extra help?
Whether I’ve built your site myself or you’ve inherited one and would like to understand how to use it better, my years of experience in both technical support and supporting WordPress for a variety of clients gives me a head start on offering WordPress tuition and training at a pace that’s suited to you. One on one WordPress training, via email or as part of a small group, I can offer full training on how to manage and maintain your WordPress website.
Beginner’s WordPress Training
Although WordPress is generally intuitive “out of the box” for anyone who has a little bit of computer experience, it can be overwhelming if you’re not familiar with the web or are used to another content management system. Furthermore, if your WordPress website has been highly customised or contains a lot of bespoke plugins or themes, you might be left wondering why your site looks nothing like WordPress examples in the online documentation!
Spend a few hours with me (maybe over a cuppa or two), and I’ll be pleased to show you around the basics of creating your own blog posts, uploading images and editing pages.
Advanced WordPress Support
If you feel you’ve already got to grips with the basics of WordPress – you can publish pages, posts and manage your media files but aren’t sure how to go about customising the look and feel of your WordPress site; or you wish to extend the functionality using thousands of freely available plugins in the WordPress Repository; or you simply want training on backing up and upgrading WordPress to ensure your site is safe and secure: I can help you.
Covering a range of more advanced topics to help you get the most out of your WordPress website, advanced training sessions are best completed one on one, but I can accomodate up to 3 people.
WordPress Technical Support
If you understand and use your WordPress website well, but you don’t want the potential hassle of dealing with WordPress upgrades and the techy bits, talk to me today about my WordPress technical support. Ad hoc when you feel it necessary, or for a fixed monthly fee, let me take care of the important updates that help keep your website secure, optimising for speed and search engines, fixing bugs and increasing compatibility with mobile devices: you name it, I can sort it.
